True story - I was about 12, had a bird. I have a cake and accidentally left the burner on the Teflon pan on the burner. The smoke from the dying birds. I think it strengthens the practice of juvenile birds electrical signal with deadly gases. So yes, I think that Teflon pans can be toxic anyway. I think that stainless steel pots would be good. Try Mr. Clean eraser to clean - they are amazing! PS - Have you checked the oven!

I do not believe that damage was done and the habit of washing with soap dish, would be. But you may need to fix to get what is causing your furnace that sounds like a timer that goes wrong.

Now the cooking begins toxic fumes when overheated, that stainless steel should be fine.
